Description:The sets of laminaria sticks “Yunona” are designed to dilate the cervical canal. The dilation mechanism is based on the high hygroscopicity of dry laminaria. When it gets into a wet or liquid environment, dry laminaria swells and softens, increasing its transverse dimensions by 2-4 times during 16 hours. Laminaria stick dilates cervical canal due to the mechanical effect on the walls of the canal when the transverse dimensions of the laminaria increase. Gradual mechanical action leads to a gradual expansion of the cervical canal.
Laminaria sticks are manufactured from natural raw materials - Laminaria digitata seaweed and are dense, inflexible rods 45 to 75 mm long. To control the position in the cervical canal, the laminaria stick is equipped with a thread 105 to 135 mm long.
Laminaria sticks are used by a qualified medical specialist in a medical facility. The recommended period of stay of a laminaria stick in the cervical canal should not exceed 16 hours.
